CONTROVERSY

 The Super Chief Minister - Early on when Narendra Modi managed Gujarat affairs, he was called a super CM by his opponents. State BJP leaders complained that he usurped their powers in the name of Organization. However this eventually put him on the Gujarat CM’s chair.

 2002 Gujarat Riots - This is the biggest controversy of his career. First he was accused of masterminding it. Then he was acccused of asking police to look the other way. His whole career seemed to be redefined based on it after that.

 Gulbarg Society - Teesta Setalvad has held Modi for being responsible for not giving police protection to former Congress leader Eshan Jafri, who was murdered in the 2002 riots in Gulbarg Society. Teesta went after him for years but is currently facing imminent arrest in a corruptio case.

 Haren Pandya Murder - This former Gujarat Home Minister was murdered in 2003. His wife called it a political assassination and many fingers were pointed at the Modi regime.
